John O’Conner (Grounds Maintenance) Ltd has purchased six Ransomes Highway 3 compact triple mowers from local Ransomes Jacobsen dealer Bartrams Professional, for their Leicestershire County Council Schools’ contract. Ransomes Jacobsen is a Textron Inc (NSYE: TXT) company.

O’Conner’s have retained the Schools’ contract with Leicestershire County Council, which they have held for the past 16 years. The new contract is for a further four years with a three year option and also includes grounds maintenance at other specified County Council premises.

To ensure that they continue to provide the very best service levels on this contract, the Hertfordshire-based group have purchased the new triple mowers, which were launched at the SALTEX Show last September and are the latest lightweight, compact cylinder mowers from the Ipswich-based mower manufacturer.

A unique safety feature on these machines is an electronic stability enhancement system, TST, which provides additional benefits for the operators. When the mower is operated beyond it safe working limits there are a series of warnings – audible, visual and mechanical – which are activated to ensure that the mower is operated safely.

Neil Cain, Operations Director commented,
“We are delighted to have retained the LCC Schools’ contract into 2017. It demonstrates that we are committed to working in partnership with our clients over the longer term, which enables us to understand their specific requirements and react accordingly.

“That’s why we’ve purchased these new Ransomes mowers; not only are they the ideal machine for this contract, with their advanced stability features, they also show that we take our Health and Safety at Work responsibilities seriously and value the safety of our team.”

John O’Conner (Grounds Maintenance) Ltd has a long association with Ransomes that stretches back some 40 years when John O’Conner, the founder of the business that bears his name, created the company in 1969. Today, it retains its ‘family-owned’ values, but has expanded to become a major player in the grounds maintenance industry with a turnover in excess of £13 million.
