Part of the extensive fleet delivered to Rio Real

Rio Real Golf & Wellness Resort is situated in a beautiful verdant valley between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierra Blanca mountains, east of Marbella on Spain’s Costa del Sol. They have recently purchased a fleet of 54 petrol E-Z-GO RXV golf cars from local distributor, Green Mowers of Estepona. E-Z-GO is a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company.

Antonio Ortiz Rufino is the Course Director and said,
“We have purchased these new buggies for numerous reasons; their economy, quality of build and the fact that they are a new generation of golf cars and have many innovative features. Golf on the Costa del Sol is very competitive and last year we achieved 38,000 rounds; however, this year we are targeting a further 2,000 rounds, which puts an added pressure on the course. We are fortunate that we are one of very few courses which are open during wet weather, but again that puts pressure on the facilities, but is also good for our income stream. The RXV’s will help us keep play moving at an acceptable pace.

“In all of our dealings with Green Mowers they have been very professional and the service levels have been excellent. It helps that they are close by at Estepona, so if we have any issues they can be with us quickly. However, I must say that the buggies have performed very well and we are delighted with them.”

Rio Real was designed by one of Spain's premier golf course architects, Javier Arana, and opened in 1961. The course has several elevated tees and well established trees line the fairways, while the river intersects the course at various points. Although relatively flat and sloping gently to the sea, to successfully negotiate the eleventh, tee shots must cross a ravine onto the fairway and before reaching the green.
